Please don't tell me that everyone everywhere in the Fediverse is or should be required to go and add the best possible image descriptions to all their description-less image posts.
I won't do that. Not only because my undescribed image posts are all over a year old now, but because the effort would be huge. I've explained it in this post from four months ago already, but the better my image descriptions get, the worse this situation gets.

And, if such a thing actually became a requirement, many people would just delete their images instead of spending months writing descriptions for old images. That would be a loss and not a gain to the fediverse and internet at large.

People have to remember that this would be unpaid work and the person writing descriptions would be losing $15 to $50 in potential income for every hour they spend writing descriptions. Or they would need to pay someone $20 to $40 an hour to hire someone to write it for them. So there is an economic cost to these type of requests or demands.
It is one thing if people want to volunteer to write this stuff. It is another to demand that someone spend $20 to $100 of their time or money to do something.

@jupiter_rowland So long as you describe goiing forward, we don’t expect you to fix old posts. I am thankful for those who do it. 👏🏾
