It is only dangerous if you put your head in the sand and deny reality, or you adopt destructive ideas of the past.

And the reality is, in the past, some things were better, and some things were worse, and some things come down to personal preference.

For example, one thing that was more dominant in the past that I think we should bring back are forum communities, except this time federated. So you can look to the past to inspire the future, in some cases.
