I have a personal, non-federating bookmarking system using Hubzilla Cards. That's where I place articles I find interesting and want to save for future reference, using categories for organization. https://hub.vikshepa.com/cards/hosh It looks like it would be possible to do something similar in the general channel stream with just stars, folders based on categories and privacy controls. Not sure which I'd prefer.
Thanks for the suggestion... and the nudge in the direction of cards. The topic is missing both in the Hubzilla help and in my KnowledgeDB. I really must write something about this.
So far, the topic had fallen off my radar because I personally didn't see any useful application for it. Now, thanks to your suggestion, I have some ideas for it in my head.
I use cards for a knowledge base. Here an example in use (some cards or some media embedddd in cards are acl controlled, for the students of the class, but most are public): https://labonneheure.ch/cards/trensemble It is in use since many years. Works well. I just would want to get rid of the hiding mechanism of older cards behind „older…“
I wish cards and wiki would merge in the future. This new app would have the categorizing capabilities of the cards app and the changelog + multi editors capabilities of the wiki app. Then this new app would be a decent competitor to mediawiki or dokuwiki.
Another interesting crossover would be articles and wiki and cards.
1. Looks like an article when displayed to people who cannot edit. 2. Has the wiki-style edit history and the ability to revert back to a previous version. 3. People can comment on it. 4. Entries can be placed in categories.
