Concerning affiliate links: I would want them to be direct links:

Direct links (DL)

With DLs, affiliates can directly connect users to your offer page without the additional parameters of an intermediate landing page. DLs are ideal for advertising in various niches. Given that most people are wary about clicking affiliate links, the best thing about DLs is that people don’t perceive them as affiliate links.

It depends if you present the fediverse server as a forum community or a social media app. If you present it as a community with a specific theme, then it depends on which audience you are trying to attract.

@Tejan Ausland That's a good point.

For a pure fediverse server, I think most people shy away from anything that looks commercial or corporate. And the results of this poll, so far, seem to indicate that.

But if you create a community forum for a specific niche, it may be different, especially if they are new to the fediverse and this is their first account.

For example, if you are offering an online course on how to build a website and have an online support community that goes with it, people will sign up for the content and stay for the community. They will learn about the fediverse as they engage in the community and discover that people are not all on the same domain name.
