Quick question for my German speaking friends. I know "Das Land" means the land or the country in German. Does it have any negative connotations associated with it?

Or, more specifically, would a social network called "Das Land" be a good or bad idea (with a domain of das.land)? Would people be interested in signing up for it? Their username would be channel@das.land if launched.

Make what into a picture? And how would that be a good advertisement?

Basically, they are laughing at you for registering the domain. It does sound cool in English or Spanish, but in German, they are not impressed.

Think of it as the American restaurant Wienerschnitzel. It is a oversized hot dog stand that doesn't even have authentic wienerschnitzel on the menu (although it used to years ago). American love it. Germans probably laugh their asses off.

The domain das.land is the Wienerschnitzel of domains.

I think Scott was right. Make it into a European tourist website targeted towards Americans. Don't even bother translating it into German.

@Tejan Ausland I wouldn't have said it so bluntly, but that is why I suggested what I suggested.
