@Scott M. Stolz In short words: It focuses too much on security and not that much on communication. (IMHO!)

While  I like the first very much as an idea, the solution is way too complicated to setup (IMHO).
About communication: Of course it does focus on communication, but the focus lies on Hubzilla communication, not on AP communication. This is okay of course, but not my usecase. There are solutions that work way better when talking to the AP fediverse.
As I wrote: There are so many things to love in Hubzilla (the nomadic id in example or how notifications are handled). But my main usecase is to communicate with people. Many people and easily.
Hubzilla has many features to exclude people from communication actually (again: this is absolutely okay but not my usecase).

The final reason is very personal, I guess. The hubzilla community did not feel very welcoming to me to be honest. I felt more like talking to "religious" than technical people. Again: This is a very personal impression for sure, but it was mine. :)
its all about what kind of communication you want to achieve

btw: as you can see Hubzilla has now this boost function you were missing for a long time @Grischa

@Grischa Hubzilla has the same communication features as all of the other fediverse software out there, plus additional ones.

Other than having to turn on ActivityPub, there should be no problems interacting with ActivityPub. In fact, most of my contacts are on Mastodon and other platforms. And I talk with them all of the time. So Hubzilla is definitely geared towards communicating with the rest of the fediverse.

All of my posts are public, and that is the default setting when I post. If you want all of your posts to be public (and not have to mess with permissions), just set your channel up as a public channel. As far as features to exclude people, I typically don't use them. My feathers don't get ruffled just because someone disagrees with me. So you can use Hubzilla or Mastodon or other platforms without blocking everyone.

Hubzilla is a tool with multiple features. Just because someone else uses Hubzilla in a certain way, that does not mean you have to use it the same way.

In fact, I am coming up with innovative ways to use Hubzilla, and many of the new users will be completely different than existing Hubzilla users. For example, I will be launching several websites for technical people within the next year or so. I will also be setting up Hubzilla-powered websites that sell courses. It takes time to get all of this set up, but Hubzilla and the people who use Hubzilla are going to change a lot in the next 3 years.

And, as far as the community goes, the community is currently very small. But that will change. So I am guessing that it's not the community... it is that certain people rub you the wrong way. Also, since Hubzilla allows you to connect to anyone on other platforms, you don't have to communicate or follow community members you don't want to interact with.

I think the bigger problem is that there is a perception that Hubzilla is only for a certain type of user. The reality is that the software is quite flexible and can be used for multiple use cases. Hopefully we can change the perception of Hubzilla to be more inclusive and welcoming to everyone.
Sorry, you have got no notifications at the moment...
