Directory Not Pulling Avatars

I know it takes about a month for a new directory to update, but on a lot of my new Hubzilla sites (not just the directory), it always shows rainbow person instead of pulling the channel's avatar.

Is there any way to speed up the process, or do I have something configured incorrectly?

Looks like write permissions issue to me... Is /store recursively writeable by your webserver?

The store directory and some of the directories are 755, but some of the directories are 700 for some reason.

I fixed it with chmod -R 755 store

I guess I forgot to run that command on install on this site. I guess installing Hubzilla at 3 am was not a good idea.

When the folders are created for new users, are they supposed to be 770?

Even after chmod -R 755 store it is still showing the default avatar, even for freshly created channels that have an avatar.

Is the cron job running as root or server user?
It should preferably run as server user. Otherwise it might create directories as root user and later on the server user has no permission to write there...

It seems to be storing only avatars from ActivityPub contacts, but not Zot contacts.

The cron job is there and since it is set up in cPanel, it should be running as the user.

I changed /usr/bin/php to /usr/local/bin/php to see if that helps. I noticed that there are multiple paths to PHP in WHM, and they might be different versions of PHP.

Another thing i can imagine is that image magick woes (have seen that on some systems). You could try to disable it with util/config system ignore_imagick 1

I tried util/config system ignore_imagick 1 and it does not seem to help. I used the update photo option on the Connections screen and it just updated it from Rainbow Man to the default icon I added.

I have these in .htconfig.php but turning them on and off does not seem to change anything.

App::$config['system']['default_profile_photo'] = 'grey-circle';

App::$config['system']['object_cache_days'] = 1;

I can change the default image all I want, but only ActivityPub avatars are being saved to: /store/[data]/[xchan] but no Zot avatars are saved.

Is there any debugging I can turn on to track this down? I am running out of things to check, and it is happening on every copy of Hubzilla on the server.

Did you ever figure out the problem? It is a bit annoying to not see people's avatars.

It is an issue with ImageMagick, or more specifically, that Hubzilla can't find ImageMagick.

There are two ways to resolve this:

Install ImageMagick and specify the path in Admin > Site,
or if it is already installed, update the path in Admin > Site.
In Admin > Site, remove the path to ImageMagick and leave that field blank.

Running the command util/config system ignore_imagick 1 did not seem to help in my case, but it is possible your system has a different issue.
